Last Game: 67-0 (W) over Manual Arts, Next Game: 10/23 at Fremont
Can anyone stop the Cougars? Last week's 67-0 victory suggests not. Crenshaw is a legitimate freelance state bowl team despite playing in a down City Section this season.
2.) Carson (4-2)
Last Game: 71-0 (W) over Washington, Next Game: 10/22 vs. Gardena
The only thing more impressive than Crenshaw's 67-0 victory was Carson's 71-0 win. The Colts continue to pound opponents on the ground and through the air with quarterback Justin Alo. This week's game against Gardena should be somewhat of a test to Carson's unrelenting offense.
3.) Venice (5-1)
Last Game: 24-2 (W) over University, Next Game: 10/23 at Palisades
The Gondoliers won't face much opposition this week on the road at Palisades, but the following week at Fairfax could be trouble. The Lions have a very good offense and almost knocked off Hamilton a week ago.
4.) Narbonne (3-3)
Last Game: 23-22 (W) at San Pedro, Next Game: 10/23 vs. Washington
Winning at San Pedro was a huge confidence boost for a Gauchos squad that had been struggling coming off a CIF title. This week's game against Washington sets up another difficult road test at Gardena.
5.) El Camino Real (6-0)
Last Game: 47-24 (W) over Birmingham, Next Game: 10/23 vs. Granada Hills
Senior running back Rashon Harper has put his team on his back in recent weeks. In the Conquistadors' last four games, Harper has scored 4 rushing touchdowns, including 6 scores last week.
6.) Arleta (5-1)
Last Game: 62-0 (W) over North Hollywood, Next Game: 10/23 at Van Nuys
The Mustangs and their high-octane offense should waltz through the East Valley League. Arleta has already scored 302 points this season, with senior quarterback Bryan Choto and senior running back Antonio Bray leading the way.
7.) Hamilton (5-1)
Last Game: 23-16 (W) over Fairfax, Next Game: 10/23 vs. University
The Yankees were lucky to escape Fairfax with a win. At this point, the marquee game on the schedule is looking like the regular season finale at Venice.
8.) Dorsey (5-1)
Last Game: 50-0 (W) over Jefferson, Next Game: 10/23 vs. Manual Arts
The Dons come back in a big way following last week's loss to San Diego team Mira Mesa by shutting out Jefferson on the road. Head coach Paul Knox has his work cut out for him after this week, as Dorsey's final three games are on the road.
9.) Taft (3-3)
Last Game: 47-7 (W) over Granada Hills, Next Game: 10/23 vs. Chatsworth
Winning big at Granada Hills vaults the Toreadors back into the top-10.
10.) San Pedro (4-2)
Last Game: 22-23 (L) against Narbonne, Next Game: 10/23 at Banning
The Pirates' could have moved up into the top-five had they held on against Narbonne. As it is, they could be on the outside looking in within a couple weeks, as big games against Gardena and Carson loom.
