Last Game: 62-0 (W) over Fremont, Next Game: 10/30 vs. Locke
So much for the critics who questioned the Cougars' defense. The last three games Crenshaw has allowed just 7 points. This could very well be the best team in California.
2.) Carson (5-2)
Last Game: 48-18 (W) over Gardena, Next Game: 10/30 vs. Banning
The Colts' two-game losing streak earlier this season seems a distant memory now that the team has rattled off three-straight impressive wins.
3.) Venice (6-1)
Last Game: 35-0 (W) over Palisades, Next Game: 10/30 at Fairfax
The Gondoliers continue to plug away at a week schedule. The regular season finale against Hamilton will be the toughest test, but Venice gets the Yankees at home.
4.) Narbonne (4-3)
Last Game: 77-14 (W) over Washington, Next Game: 10/30 at Gardena
A true sign of a down year in the City Section: last season's CIF champion Narbonne is 1-3 against out-of-section opponents, and 3-0 against sectional rivals.
5.) El Camino Real (7-0)
Last Game: 59-10 (W) over Granada Hills,Next Game: 10/30 vs. Taft
If head coach Kevin Williams can get past this week unscathed, it looks like smooth sailing for a perfect Conquistador season. Taft won't go down easily, however.
6.) Arleta (6-1)
Last Game: 42-0 (W) over Van Nuys, Next Game: 10/30 at Grant
There's not a lot not to like about this Mustang team. Arleta has scored 344 points and allowed just 76 this season. Such balance will come in handy in December, when the team expects to seriously challenge for a Division II crown.
7.) Hamilton (6-1)
Last Game: 45-21 (W) over University, Next Game: 10/30 vs. Westchester
The Yankees have been skating by recently. This week's matchup with Westchester will show if the team are contenders or pretenders in the Western League.
8.) Dorsey (6-1)
Last Game: 53-9 (W) over Manual Arts, Next Game: 10/30 at Fremont
While it's unrealistic that the Dons will have any chance against Crenshaw in two weeks, they'd better try to figure out their opponents, as the Cougars will likely face Dorsey in the Division I playoffs.
9.) Taft (4-3)
Last Game: 53-6 (W) over Chatsworth, Next Game: 10/30 at El Camino Real
The best three-loss team in the section, expect Taft to go undefeated the rest of the way and roll into the playoffs with a bevy of confidence.
10.) San Pedro (5-2)
Last Game: 14-7 (W) over Banning, Next Game: 10/30 at Washington
This could be the last time we see San Pedro in the rankings for awhile. Closing out the season against Gardena and Carson will test the Pirates, who have been unspectacular the last two weeks.
