TeamCityRecord
1La Costa CanyonCarlsbad10-0
Last Game: 30-20 (W) over Torrey Pines, Next Game: Division I Round One BYE

Can LCC rely on junior first-year quarterback Garrett Krstich down the stretch? Everything else seems to be in order for a CIF repeat. The Mavericks quest to repeat looks to be an easy path until the championship game, where a likely showdown with top-ranked Eastlake looms.

2OceansideOceanside10-0
Last Game: 52-6 (W) over Ramona, Next Game: Division II Round One BYE

The Pirates romp to a sixth consecutive CIF Division II title should be a cakewalk. Nobody has stood up to head coach John Carroll’s team, which outscored opponents 401-to-66 this season.

3EastlakeChula Vista8-1-1
Last Game: 28-14 (W) over Chula Vista, Next Game: Division I Round One BYE

The No. 2 seed in Division I looked a bit vulnerable last week against a the Spartans. The Titans can’t play like that and expect to finally break through and win CIF, a run that will likely culminate in a matchup at Qualcomm Stadium against La Costa Canyon.

4Mission BaySan Diego10-0
Last Game: 42-15 (W) over University City, Next Game: Division IV Round One BYE

Dillon Baxter (USC) is a legitimate candidate for San Diego Section Player of the Year. The senior played out of position to help out at quarterback for the Bucs, averaging 371 yards of total offense per game in leading Mission Bay to a perfect record.

5Cathedral CatholicSan Diego9-1
Last Game: 55-14 (W) over Scripps Ranch, Next Game: Division III Round One BYE

After allowing 19 points in the fourth quarter of the Dons’ lone loss to Lincoln, Cathedral hasn’t allowed more than 14 points in an Eastern League game despite going up against top offenses like Mira Mesa, St. Augustine and Scripps Ranch.

6VistaVista8-2
Last Game: 46-28 (W) over Rancho Buena Vista, Next Game: Division I Round One BYE

A perfect Palomar League mark has the Panthers off the first week of the Division I playoffs. But don’t expect too deep of a run by Vista, as a semifinals matchup with Eastlake could spell doom for head coach Dan Williams’ team.

7Mission HillsSan Marcos8-2
Last Game: 17-10 (W) over Fallbrook, Next Game: Division II Round One BYE

The Grizzlies quietly had a very good (albeit surprising) season. A year after losing their starting quarterback and running back, the team bounced back and posted several impressive wins in close games. The Grizzlies have more experience in close games than anybody, as the team finished 8-2 despite outscoring opponents by a total of 26 points this season

8ValhallaEl Cajon8-2
Last Game: 49-14 (W) over Granite Hills, Next Game: Division II Round One BYE

Pete Thomas (Arizona State) had another brilliant year, but the Norsemen were helped out by a surprising defense. Led by senior defensive lineman Shane Pennix, Valhalla allowed more than 14 points just three times this season.

9Francis ParkerSan Diego9-1
Last Game: 30-0 (W) over Christian, Next Game: Division V Round One BYE

The Lancers have to feel very good about where they stand. Parker will waltz through the Division V bracket, as Christian, the No. 2 seed, was soundly beaten at home by the Lancers to close out the regular season.

10Valley CenterValley Center9-1
Last Game: 49-7 (W) over San Marcos, Next Game: Division IV Round One BYE

Oceanside put up 45 points against the Jaguars, who will most likely face a similar offense in Mission Bay in a Division IV finals matchup.

On the Verge: Escondido, Mira Mesa

Dropped Out: Lincoln
