Gardner runs out of time to enroll early
Inkster, Mich., four-star quarterback commitment Devin Gardner confirmed to TheWolverine.com he will not enroll early this January. The nation's No. 1 signal-caller had been trying to square away his academics to make it happen but simply ran out of time
"It's not going to happen; it's just something we couldn't get done," said a disappointed Gardner.
The 6-4, 195-pounder, fresh off a stint as one of three quarterbacks on Team Nitro in the Under Armour All-American Game Jan. 2, hoped he would have been starting classes today at U-M, making him eligible to participate in spring practices in March.
"The coaches are disappointed and I'm a little disappointed, but this just means I have to work hard on my own and then work harder in the summer and next fall when I do get there," he said.
Gardner will sign a letter of intent Feb. 3 to officially become part of this class.
