Spartans in close race for Rivals100 DB
Michigan State is still very much in the race for Rivals100 safety prospect Latwan Anderson (5-11, 185), despite the Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville star recently naming West Virginia his leader.
"West Virginia is the leader, but Michigan State isn't behind by much," the four-star rated Anderson told SpartanMag.com Wednesday night. "So I would say at least top three (along with Georgia)."
What does Anderson like about the Spartans?
"They have a real good academic situation that would fit me, and the family environment that I'm looking for," he said. "They will get you good in football and they have coaches that I'm pretty sure will be around all throughout my years of college."
Speaking of the coaches, Anderson said the MSU staff has made a strong impression on him.
"Every time I talk to a coach they let me know that they want me around in the family. Like Coach Pat Narduzzi , I talk to him maybe once or twice a week, so I just call him up to talk to him. So I think he's a real cool guy," Anderson said. "And Coach (Mark) Dantonio, he seems like a father to the players. Like I talked to a lot of players who say you can go to him and talk to him about anything, not just football stuff, like life situations, stuff like that."
Asked what the MSU staff has said they like about his abilities, Anderson said, "They just think that I have good ball skills, I can run, I can play corner or safety, I come up in run support with no hesitation, so I can read and react real well."
